It’s finally Spring and I’m here to check in on my reading goals for 2019. So far I don’t think I’m doing very well, to be honest… To recap, at the beginning of the year I started out with a whopping 277 books on my TBR shelves and I set myself a Goodreads reading challenge of completing 75 books by the end of the year. As of today, I have read 24 books since January 1st, which according to Goodreads means I am 3 books ahead of schedule. So, if I keep reading at this pace I will be able to read more than 75 books by the end of the year – that’s the good news!
The bad news is that I haven’t exactly been sticking to my goal of not adding books to my TBR shelves. I’ve been purchasing fewer books than I did in the past, but I’ve also been winning a lot of Goodreads giveaways or receiving books for free in other ways. I’m sorry (okay, maybe not that sorry) to say that I’ve hauled 25 new books already this year. In an attempt to balance my reading pace with my acquisition pace (and to lighten my shelves a bit), I decided to unhaul books I either didn’t like or will never read. Which brings me to my new TBR shelf grand total of… drum roll… 269 books! Ouch.
Clearly I need to do a better job this coming season of reading, unhauling, and not acquiring so many books. I know it’s lofty given my current pace, but I’d love to get my TBR number down to 250. Maybe by December I can even bring it down to 200! Although that might be too optimistic. How are your reading goals going so far this year? Have you reached any exciting milestones?

Good luck with your reading and getting your TBR under control. ♥ It is so difficult to get rid of books. You never know if you’re discarding a treasure….. I know, I’m no help. LOL

Thanks so much! 🙂 Totally! It’s always a tough decision. If I have time I try to read the first chapter before unhauling a book, but still… Haha
